Daniel Negreanu is one of the most active professional poker players today. Negreanu is of Romanian origins, but his parents settled down in Toronto long before he was born. This poker player has four World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets and two World Poker Tour (WPT) championships to his credit.
Early Life
Fortunately for Negreanu, he had a very supportive family, who did not mind his love for games such as poker and snooker. At the tender age of 16, Negreanu headed over to pool halls to bet on sports events and play cards. He dropped out of high school and started playing at Fundtime Games and Casino country and participating in illegal games across the city. When he was 22, he was quite firm on becoming a professional poker player, owing to which he collected a substantial bankroll and headed over to Las Vegas. Unfortunately, Las Vegas proved to be too tough a nut to crack for the young poker player and he had to return to his home town to build a bankroll once again.
Interested poker players can visit Negreau’s Full Contact Poker blog to read his opinions on almost every topic under the sun, in addition to poker. Negreanu is fond of hockey and has even admitted that he thought of declining the offer to play on Poker After Dark because its season clashed with the hockey season.
Having lived in the US for several years, he became a US citizen in 2009.
Philanthropic Poker Player
Negreanu is known for his love for humankind and appears in several charity events such as Ante Up For Africa. He has also founded the Big Swing, an annual golf event to raise funds for charity.
Negreanu’s Poker Achievements
Negreanu can play both cash games as well as tournament games exceptionally well. With four WSOP bracelets, 2 WPT championships, innumerable appearances at WPT and WSOP finals, and several significant tournament titles, Negreanu is one of the most successful poker players around.
